For the fourth consecutive year the Venture Unit participated in the Annual Tournament for Venture Units. The participating Units were Attard, Dingli, Marsa, Mosta, and Naxxar. This time the tournament was played on a league basis with all Units playing against each other. Our Unit won the tournament for the first time with wins against Dingli, Naxxar and Mosta and drawing against Marsa, winning the tournament on goal difference. Trophies and shield were presented by the new Chief Scout Mr. Kenneth DeMartino.

Seven members from the Unit attended the Annual Summer Camp held by the Attard Scout Group, which was held from the 1st to the 9th of August. This time round the Unit built an assault course for the Unit to enjoy and also for the Troop. Members of the Unit were the first to try out the new kayaks bought just before the camp. All members of the Unit took part in games with the troop, helping the patrols gain points. The Unit also
helped around in the preparation and during the annual BBQ.

On 11th July AVSL Manuel Cremona did his joint activity with Darren Mercieca of the Victoria Group (Gozo). This activity was part of the basic course the AVSL did to gain the woggle. The activity consisted of a night hike, cookout and bivouac in Gozo. Three members from the Attard Unit attended together with some younger members of the Victoria Unit.

On 3rd May the group participated in the Scouts annual parade in Valletta. All members of the Unit turned up. On this day three members of the Unit received their Venture Award badge and certificate.

On the 25th of April, the Attard Parish organized a Family Fun Day at Ta’ Qali picnic area. Our group was invited to participate and the Unit’s part in this activity was to build an assault course for children. The Unit supervised and helped the children enjoy the day playing around.

This year four members from the Unit were part of drums section that took part for the second time in the Cospicua Holy Friday procession.

On 10th February the Unit organized their first hike in Gozo. The Unit crossed over to our sister Island with the 8.00am ferry and upon arriving each new member of the Unit had to plot the route to be taken. During the hike the new members also had to cover some first-aid, knotting, mapping and cooking at various check points all prepared for them by the older members of the Unit.

On the last weekend of January, 5 members from the Unit and their leader went on a 45km expedition as part of their Venture Award. The Unit left our quarters at 19.00hrs towards the Ghajn Tuffieha Camp Site. Each member had to carry 13kg of personal and general equipment. The next day the Unit hiked round the coast from Ghajn Tuffieha to Dingli Cliffs where they slept for the night and on the last day they continued round the coast and then cut inland towards our head quarters exhausted but satisfied.
